2nd Annual Ride Rank Bull Riding School
2010
The 2010 Ride Rank Bull Riding School was held November 11-14 at Mattox Arena in Derby, KS. Forty students, 36 bull riders and 4 bull fighters, traveled from ten states to spend an amazing weekend together. The school was taught by fifteen instructors from 5 states. These instructors volunteered their time for the weekend as they provided students with the tools to be great in and out of the arena.
Multiple stationary and drop barrels were used to develop correct riding habits. Mental toughness and use of visualization was emphasized on a daily basis and students were provided with unlimited practice stock brought by Charlie McDonald and the McDonald rodeo company. Students were rewarded with a free prize jackpot on the last day after they participated in an excellent cowboy church service presented by Prairie Trails Cowboy Church. Students were divided into two divisions, novice and advanced, as they rode for Bob Berg Buckles, Champion Choice Buckles, Carroll Leather Coats and custom leather goods made by Sam Stuart. Buddy Brittain walked away with the Advanced championship and Tyler Stegman won the novice after ten cowboys battled through a draft style short round. All bull fighters were awarded prizes and rewarded for one of the best cowboy protection display of talent possible. Bene Leather provided the overall prizes which were taken home by Cassandra Legg for hard luck, Trace Brackney for most improved and Levi Brozek for biggest heart.
The school was presented by Ride Rank for a Cure who, with the help of some amazing sponsors were able to raise over $2,000 to battle the disease of cancer.
